About Us

   What is Cru?

Cru is a University of Northern Colorado student organization which believes true life is found in a relationship with Christ and we want everyone to be able to experience it. We hope to provide each and every UNC student with an environment to investigate God, explore the idea of having a personal relationship with Him, and grow in that relationship.

What are we about?

You’ll spend 4 years ( or 7?) of your life in college … incredible friendships, crazy adventures, freedom…it’s awesome! We believe that life is all about relationships. We were created with a burning desire to be connected to others: to know others and be known by others, yet still loved.

We believe that all those longings for the ultimate life can be found in a living breathing relationship with Jesus Christ. We exist to connect students with Jesus and each other! At Cru, we want to be a place where you can really pursue God no matter what your life looks like right now. We want Cru to be a safe place to ask tough questions and get honest answers… even if the answer is “I don’t know”. In contrast to popular belief, we don’t all think we know the answer to every question, but we will be willing to look into it with you. We believe Jesus is who He said He was, and His death and resurrection over 2,000 years ago changed everything! Because of this, we want to give every student and faculty on campus the opportunity to really know Him and to experience life as it was meant to be lived: alongside Him. We believe as a person experiences God’s unconditional love and transformation, then he or she will want to tell those they care for about this incredible gift. You can leave knowing this one thing… we really love Jesus and can’t help talking about Him, which is what we are all about!

Our Staff Team

Josh and Julie Baker

Josh grew up in Lafayette, CO where he went to Centaurus High School before leaving for the University of Illinois to play baseball and study biology.  Julie grew up in the Chicago, IL area and also went to the University of Illinois to study kinesiology.  They both encountered Jesus in life changing ways through Cru while at U of I, and separately decided they wanted to spend the rest of their lives helping every college student on earth have an opportunity to experience God’s love for them through a personal relationship with Jesus.  They met while serving with Cru at U of I, got married, and served with Cru at Michigan State University for 6 years – including 1 year abroad in the Middle East – before moving back to CO to lead Cru at UNC in 2014.  They are excited to see what God has in store for them and for UNC in this next phase of life. They have 3 girls: Ellie, Zoe & Sophie, love hiking & camping, anything outside, exercising, international food, and fresh-roasted coffee.  josh.baker@cru.org

After a year as a teacher, the Lord called her to Cru staff (and to Brett), and in 2005 they were married. They were first in Denver where they served at multiple campuses throughout the city. In 2010, they moved to Greeley, and they have loved the city and working with students at UNC! They have 3 boys: Luke, Levi, and Judah. As a family, they enjoy watching movies, camping, desserts, and living life with students. Brett loves doing things in the outdoors including mountain biking, rock climbing, Jeeping, snowboarding, and hiking 14ers. Darci loves photography, trying new recipes, volunteering at the boys’ school, and spending time in Glenmere Park.  brett.hullah@cru.org  darci.hullah@cru.org
